We were driving into the city (San Francisco) one day and saw a billboard with a face of an adorable baby which caught our attention. Since starting BUNSO, anything with a baby's face gets our attention.
Turns out the billboard was from the Black Infant Health Program, a program we'd never heard of. A quick online search informed us that it's a state funded program in most counties, including our own.
The minute we found out the program helps under privileged and minority families, we knew we needed to reach out and see how we can help. Their mission to uplift and empower Black mothers with education, access to resources, and community aligned perfectly with our own values.
A few emails later, we were able to contact the Alameda County branch and Santa Clara County BIH (Black Infant Health) programs and they were delighted that there was someone who was willing to donate new diaper bags.
When we donated to the Black Infant Health Program in Santa Clara County, we connected with Tonya and got to meet the team and made a few more donations.
If you’ve been following our journey, you know BUNSO wasn’t just created to make beautiful, functional diaper bags (though we love doing that). It was born from a real-life need—to support moms through the beautiful and messy parts of motherhood.
We donated a batch of our BUNSO 2-in-1 Diaper bag perfect for newborns —designed to be water-resistant, minimalist, and perfect for everyday parenting. These weren’t just products to us—they were a symbol of care and support. Something every mom deserves, no matter their circumstances.
To our surprise, the team at Santa Clara County Public Health invited us to the annual Perinatal Conference and also an appreciation event—where Bunso was recognized for our contribution. 💫
But here’s what really got us: BUNSO was being recognized along with doctors, nurses, congressmen...how did we get here?

At Bunso, we’re building more than a diaper bag brand—we’re building a community of moms helping moms. Whether it’s a small act of giving, sharing stories, or simply making a mom’s day easier with a well-designed bag, it all matters.
So thank you to the Black Infant Health Program of Santa Clara County for the work you do. And thank you to our Bunso community—because every purchase you make helps us give back in meaningful ways.
This award? It belongs to all of us. 💛
